Ceramics

I am a ceramic artist. In my practice, I use images and stories of my family, community, and experience growing up in the California wilderness as a Boy Scout. My style comes from black artists of different mediums like music, food, fashion, and painting that I’ve seen. I practice creating my ideas in my head and drawings because I like to show the beauty of nature and express my inner feelings about my community in my work. I'm trying to create a style that uses different natural forms for common functional vessels like bowls and plates. I want to show people the interesting plants I have witnessed in person and documentaries. I want my work to be engaged by people of all ages looking to find joy and hope in nature.
